Givi Mikanadze is a Secretary General of the Parliament of Georgia since March 2018. Before that function, he was a Rector of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia. Formerly, he acted as a Project Manager at the Police and Prison Unit of the Council of Europe, managing projects on prison and probation reform in Eastern Partnership and Balkan countries, as well as a Vice Minister of Justice of Georgia in charge of prisons, probation and court bailiffs. Since 2011 Mr. Mikanadze is an invited Professor at the Law School of Tbilisi State University and since 2018 – at Ilia State University. In 2013-2017 he has been an Associated Professor at East European University and since 2018 became an affiliated Associated Professor at Georgian National University (SEU). Mr. Mikanadze has a Master Degree in Law at Tbilisi State University and in European Law at University of Essex. Since 2013 he is a PhD candidate in Criminal Law at VU Amsterdam and the NSCR. Elected to the ASGP Executive Committee in April 2019.
