World e-Parliament Report 2012

The United Nations and the Inter-Parliamentary Union have published the World e-Parliament Report 2012, which documents the efforts of legislatures to use information and communication technologies to support their functions.

 

The Report is based on the Global Survey of ICT in Parliaments 2012 conducted by the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament between February and May 2012, to which 156 parliaments replied. World e-Parliament Conference 2012

The World e-Parliament Conference is the biennial forum of the community of parliaments addressing, from both policy and technical perspectives, how the use of information and communication technology can help improve representation, transparency, accountability, openness, and effectiveness in the complex parliamentary environment.


The 2012 conference will take place on 13, 14 and 15 September 2012 at the Chamber of Deputies of Italy in Rome, and will conclude on the International Day of Democracy 2012. For more information e-mail conference@ictparliament.org

Global Survey of ICT in Parliaments 2012

In preparation for the release of the third issue of the World e-Parliament Report (http://www.ictparliament.org/world-e-parliament-reports) the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament has recently launched the Global Survey of ICT in Parliaments 2012, which will allow progress of e-parliaments to be measured including the changes due to recent technological developments.

The Survey was distributed by the Inter-Parliamentary Union to all national parliaments worldwide by post and via e-mail through the IPU national groups. A copy of the Survey and additional information are available on the website of the Global Centre for ICT in Parliament: www.ictparliament.org/globalsurvey

The deadline for the completion of the Survey is 30 March 2012.
